How to get to Castle Landštějn

On Foot

You can easily walk to the castle along several marked hiking trails, either the red, yellow, or blue trail. The Red Trail leads from Staré Město pod Landštejnem (3 km) or from Slavonice (9 km). The Yellow Trail leads from Dačice (22 km), while the Blue Trail takes you there from the village of Český Rudolec (9 km).

More information in the section for hikers.

By Bicycle

The entire area of Czech Canada is an ideal spot for bicyclists, the Landštej castle area being no exception. The bike path no. 32, part of the Greenways Prague - Vienna biking network, leads right past Landštejn Castle.

Of course you don’t have to start from Vienna. If you want to take the bike to the castle, use the tips from the section “On Foot” or “By Car”.

By Car

…or you can také a bus. The best route is from Jindřichův Hradecalong rd. 128 to Nová Bystřice through Klášter directly to Landštejn (the turn from Klášter is marked). You can also come from the opposite side along the route Slavonice – Staré Město pod Landštejnem – Landštejn.

There is a paid parking lot beneath the castle.

By Bus

The castle bus stop is on the link Jindřichův Hradec - Nová Bystřice - Slavonice. Not all buses stop directly at the castle (bus stops Staré Město p. Land., Landštejn), so the only option is to get off at the stop Staré Město pod Landštejnem and take the remaining 2 km on foot.

Up-to-date information at the IDOS website.

By Train

The train route is a bit trickier, but all the more interesting. From Jindřichův Hradec a narrow-railed train goes to the station Hůrky (direction Nová Bystřice). Onwards by foot through the village of Blato - about 8 km.

Watch out for the seasonal operation of the narrow-railed train! The train schedule (with lots of other information on the narrow-railed train) is available at the website JHMD.
